How Phil Parker is Making a Difference with NLP in Healthcare

Phil Parker has been nominated for NLP in Healthcare Award for his work using NLP to support individuals suffering from chronic health conditions such as ME/CFS, Anxiety, Depression, Fibromyalgia, MS, Chronic Pain etc. He has now been selected as a finalist by the independent judging panel.

Using the influence and principles of NLP, Phil created his training programme, the Lightning Process (LP), which uses the mind-body connection to empower individuals to change their lives and health. Over the last 18 years, he has helped improve the lives of over 20,000 people living with debilitating health conditions.

The nomination form cited that his clients would often go from being house-bound and confined to a bed or in a wheelchair to living healthy, happy lives and making incredible accomplishments such as climbing mountains, completing marathons and ironman challenges and in one case, even competing in the Rio Olympics! This was supported by many examples in the evidence providing alongside the nomination form.

Phil continues to work on research studies, with the most recent one being a Randomised Control Trial by the University of Bristol and the NHS. This study adds to the evidence base and credibility of the LP, and through that NLP.

Phil developed the LP in 1999 and initially ran all the courses himself but as the demand increased he needed to train other practitioners to ensure the LP could be accessible to help as many people as possible. With this came the necessity to set up an organisation where practitioners met the professional standards required: all LP Practitioners undergo regular supervision and meet vigorous CPD requirements, and there is a professional conduct committee to oversee this. There are now over 55 practitioners working in 10 different countries and these regulations ensure that every client will receive the same training to the same high standard.

In addition to this, in 2011, as a charity project, the LP programme was provided to 300 Red Cross workers in Kenya to support the incredible work they were doing with HIV/AIDS. Phil also regularly runs workshops around the world for GP Appraisers, Nurses, Doctors/Consultants and Osteopaths raising the awareness of NLP in a positive way and changing healthcare from within by teaching tools to change how these professionals interact with their patients, utilising the language patterns of NLP.

The NLP Awards shortlists have been put together from nominations by an independent judging panel. The NLP Awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner on Saturday 19th May at the NLP International Conference. More details of the categories and shortlisted nominees can be found here.
