How Phil Quirk is Making a Difference with NLP in Public Service and Community

Phil Quirk has been nominated for NLP in Public Service and Community Award for his work with his team at Pro Noctis, supporting Durham Police and Royal Air Force Cosford with free places on their residential NLP Practitioner courses. He has now been selected as a finalist by the independent judging panel.

Durham Police

The Checkpoint Scholarship provided Durham police with fully funded NLP Practitioner placements for their staff or offenders. All of the free scholarship places provide incredible opportunities for the participants. It was cited in the nomination form that it has had a phenomenal impact on both the Checkpoint staff who work with offenders with issues as well as on the clients themselves.

This scholarship has received exceptional feedback from all of the participants as well as praise from the Durham Police Chief Constable, Mike Barton, who has remarked upon the visible and positive paradigm shift in behaviours of both staff and offenders. Some of the nominees have been particularly vulnerable having recovered from long-term drug or alcohol addiction. This opportunity has proved incredibly beneficial to both the recipients and their close family & friends. The skills learnt on the course have enabled both staff and clients to make positive changes to their behaviours which have then improved life chances for people in the community.

In one example, a Checkpoint navigator who had battled heroin addiction for over 20 years attended the Pro-Noctis NLP course. Before attending, he struggled with self-confidence and although completely rehabilitated from his drug addiction, he was still affected by his past. With the help of NLP, he now has the self-confidence to give presentations to large audiences about his life and lessons learned, as well as working for Durham Police helping people in similar situations to make better life choices.

Phil’s delivery is described as both empathetic and supportive for the nominated students from Checkpoint, which enable and encourage them to actively participate in the course and gain significant skills to improve their personal confidence and life chances. Checkpoint research indicates that thoughts and behaviour is the main critical pathway for an offender and therefore NLP has had a significant positive impact in this area. The feedback received from Checkpoint of their students experience is exceptional; all speak highly of the course delivery, the trainer skills and the way in which NLP has changed and continues to change their lives for the better.

Royal Air Force

Phil Quirk and his Pro Noctis team have provided Royal Air Force Cosford with numerous residential courses at Lilleshall Abbey. So far 15 individuals have been given the chance to remove themselves from the military mindset, both improving their outlook, their views on life and enabling them to notice issues within recruits that otherwise may have gone unnoticed. With the NLP knowledge the standard of instruction has improved on such a scale that a whole personal development program has been set up. Other subjects such as Coaching and Mentoring have had direct links to NLP, and a profound impact on teaching styles and the development of trainees.

One of individuals who benefited from the training, stated – “Royal Air Force Cosford has now become a leading light in the RAF for personal development. Something we give great credit to Phil Quirk and his team at Pro-Noctis.”

It was also cited in the nomination form that Instructors and line managers have reported huge leaps in trainee pass rates, less stress for trainees and the instructors. It has reached a point where so many instructors want to teach on these development programs that news is spreading about the NLP courses. The Station Commander has given his backing to these programs because of the feedback from all concerned.
